Controversy in Jhk's Gumla as 20 tribals revert to sarna religion, alleged conversion to Islam via Changai Sabha

In rural areas of Jharkhand's Siya block, the game of religious conversion has been an ongoing concern, with Christian missionaries allegedly luring innocent villagers to convert to Christianity through the Healing Assembly. However, a recent event took a different turn when twenty tribal people from Kumhari Jhapatoli village decided to return to their original Sarna religion on Friday.

Led by Budheshwar Pahan, who adhered to tribal customs and worshiped the village deity, the converted families were convinced to return home to the Sarna religion. The process of returning to their original faith was organized with the assistance of Hindu Jagran Manch Jharkhand State Reflector Chief, Sanjay Verma.

The villagers who had embraced Christianity two years ago under temptations offered by the Christian missionaries spoke about their experiences. They revealed that despite converting, their households continued to face issues, with someone always falling sick. It was the lure of promised health facilities that had led them to leave the Sarna religion and adopt Christianity at that time. However, with time, they began to question these beliefs and the veil of superstition was eventually lifted.

The incident sheds light on the ongoing challenges concerning religious conversions in rural regions. The allure of better facilities and other enticements has caused many innocent villagers to forsake their traditional faith and adopt new religions. Such conversions have often been a subject of concern for the local communities, leading to tensions between religious groups.

Budheshwar Pahan's efforts to bring back the converted families to their original faith reflect the deep-rooted connection these villagers have with their ancestral religion. It also highlights the importance of preserving indigenous beliefs and customs in the face of external influences.

While religious conversions and their implications continue to be a subject of debate, incidents like this serve as a reminder of the significance of religious harmony and mutual respect for diverse beliefs within the country. As the issue of conversions remains a sensitive topic, it is crucial for all stakeholders, including religious organizations and community leaders, to engage in open dialogues and foster an environment of understanding and tolerance.
